The Church of the Ascension, Lake Como<\/em><\/h6>\n

From May until end of September services are conducted in English every Sunday at 10:30. Afterwards refreshments are served outside on the patio.\u00a0 Service includes Holy Communion and is conducted by locum chaplains from the worldwide Anglican community who will reside locally.<\/p>\n

The congregation is a mix of permanent residents and international visitors. Everyone is welcome to attend. The church is located right opposite the Cadenabbia ferry landing station on the Western lakeshore of Lake Como. The nearest town is Menaggio.<\/p>\n

Wedding Blessings<\/em><\/h6>\n

The Anglican Church in Italy cannot perform legal marriage ceremonies. However, couples are welcome to have their civil marriages blessed in the church. The Church of the Ascension continues to be in great demand for wedding blessings due to its beautiful location, together with excellent accommodation and reception locations in villas and local hotels on the lake. Services for the renewal of marriage vows are also popular, as well as couples having their children baptized.

Music<\/em><\/p>\n

The church at Cadenabbia has a wonderful acoustic and we are always happy to welcome visiting choirs and musicians.<\/p>\n

Architecture<\/em><\/h6>\n

The Ascension Church has long been regarded as one of jewels-in-the-crown of the Diocese in Europe and services in English have been held there for well over 100 years. Situated on the western lakeshore, the building is the masterpiece of Giorgio Brentano, a young Italian architect. It was completed and consecrated in 1891 and few leave without being enchanted by its exquisite interior and charming location. Its position couldn\u2019t be more spectacular, nestling just a few meters from the ferry landing station and directly opposite the picture-postcard villages of Bellagio and Varenna.<\/p>\n

Administration<\/em><\/h6>\n

The Church of the Ascension is part of the Archdeaconry of Italy and Malta. It has its own Church Council that manages its running and finances.<\/p>\n
